Welcome To The Bullpen

IF A COWBOY YOU WANT TO BE
Robert Blankenship

If it is a cowboy
You truly want to be
Here,s a scribbled list
Of some things that you will need

Every cowboy has a need
For a hat upon his head
Lest the sun dry out his brain and
He fall over dead

A square of silk around his neck
For keeping out the dust and
For many other things
A cowboys rag is a must

A pair of leather gloves
To help protect his paws
So when roping and branding cattle
He dont scar his hands at all

A belt of cowhide made
To hold up his trouser pants
So that they dont fall off
When he goes to do a dance

They protect his legs
A pair of leather chaps
They are a necessary tool
For keeping stickers out

A nicely worn holster
With a trusty Colts pistol tucked in
Always by his side
The Colts pistol his friend

A large bladed knife
Called a beldeque
Used for cuttin rope and
For skinnin deer to

A chaw of tobacco
To spit upon the ground
Its fairly good tastin and
Turns your teeth all brown

A nice pair of boots
With fancy stichin and such
If someone accidental steps on em
He'll holler and he'll cuss

Fancy silver spurs
Help him do his job
But he wants you to hear
His singing jingle bobs

A straight shootin rifle
A Winchester is preferred
For bringing in some dinner and
For protectin the herd

A good cigar for smokin
While listening to the coyote choir and
Tellin tall tales
While sittin round the fire

A gold colored pocket watch
To use for tellin time
So that he aint late and
Gits left behind

A good rawhide lariat
40ft from end to end
Used for lassoing cattle
Or for hanging outlaws my friends

A good horse and saddle
Top of this array
Yep,you gotta have these things
For doin the cowboy way.
