MY PLACE...A Western Blog
____________________________________________

"Some men write ‘cause they got to say somethin’
Others write ‘cause they got somethin' to say"

Welcome to the “My Place” page
My name is Scott
I run the Rope and Wire website.

My original idea for this page was to give those living in the country the opportunity to tell others about the things that made their farm or ranch so special.
Well, I’ve come to the conclusion that either no one likes to brag or no one lives on a farm or a ranch. Whatever the case, no one submitted an article so I felt it was high time to try something different.
So for now this will be literally “My Place.” I’ll use this page to post a western blog or short articles. They will either be mine, or possibly one from a contributing R&W community member.

The theme will remain Western but the content will change weekly, or there about.

If you click on any of the links to past blog's, you can return to this page by clicking on the My Place button across from my picture.

I hope you enjoy it but if not, might I suggest you “stroll the grounds.” Read a story or watch a movie.

Thanks for visiting.

Scott

Happy New Year, 2008

Yes, we have all survived a year to be remembered, or maybe one to be forgotten depending on your point of view. One thing is certain, we will all be hoping, wishing and/or praying that this New Year will be better than the last.

The Rope and Wire website has gone through several changes over the past year as we continue to try out new ideas to improve our site. Some have done well and others have not. But then, that’s the whole idea, isn’t it? To not sit stagnant, but keep moving forward. If something doesn’t work, try something different until you find a winning combination. And once you’ve found it, tweak it for all it’s worth.  I’m sure all you writers can relate.

So, we continue to move forward, finding, and then tweaking, the things that work.

It seems we are on the right trail. Over the past year the Rope and Wire website has more than doubled it’s monthly viewership. We are consistently breaking the old and setting new records on a monthly basis.

The flow of new viewers to the site has been tremendous. That may be good news for us, but it’s even better news for those of you who have submitted content to Rope and Wire. Why? Because it means each month more and more people are seeing your work, reading about you and your books as well as clicking on your links. This is all very good exposure for you writers out there and to be honest, this is one of the main reasons this site even exists. (The other being, I love old western movies and I know there are plenty of you out there who do as well.)

But for the most part, we are here to give exposure to the western genre and to the authors who work so hard at keeping it alive.

Keep writing, keep submitting and most of all, keep telling your friends (and even your enemies) about Rope and Wire.

A New Years toast to all of you writers out there…

May your ink well never empty
And your cartridge never run dry
Keep a sharp tip on your pencil
And writers block out of your mind

From Rope and Wire

Thank you, and have a great New Year.
