Cowboy Poetry and Western Verse

CHEYANNE
Luana Chamness

My heart’s tearin’ into pieces
Cuz I had to say so long
To you, Cheyanne, my BEST friend
And right now, it just seems wrong.

An undyin’ friendship we had
Between you and me and my boys
One that went on thirty-four years
And you always brought us much joy.

My boys learned to ride cuz of you
Mild manners and yur gentle way
Dedication to our family
And yeah, it showed thru every day.

You was around for a long time
Seemed like it’d be forever too
God saw you gittin’ rather frail
He knew exactly what to do.

I’ve been goin’ thru some photos
And oh, such sweet memories to me
Of the times together we shared
But now, you can truly ride free.

No other horse could take yur place
Cuz you was my BEST friend Cheyanne
Don’t wanna say bye, just so long
Till we meet when it’s in His plan.
