THEM SHINY BOOTS
Luana Chamness

Daddy was noted for them shiny boots
Must been that extra touch of mine
I was his helper each Saturday nite
When we always gave his boots a shine.

He would get out his brown shoe polish
Rub it into his boots with a brush
Makin' sure to get it all over
He never really was in a rush.

Then it was my job with 'nother brush
To "BUFF" the boots as Daddy would say
Cuz he wanted them to sparkle
For the church service on Sunday.

One would think that this oughta do
But there's a bit more to my story yet
Then out came the old, but clean rag
After this, maybe we'd be all set.

Each boot Daddy would put between his legs
And give it the last ulitmate "BUFF"
Them shiny boots, already for church
Seemed to have taken jolly long enuf!
