Cowboy Poetry and Western Verse

TOWN TAMER
Joel T. Bailey

He rode easy in the saddle
A man tall and lean
His hand was steady
And his wits were keen

Up ahead of him now
Is another boom town
Were he'd been hired
To lay the law down

Tied low on his hip
Was an old forty four
He'd used it many times
And there'd be more

He had worn many badges
In many differant places
The towns were the same
Just differant faces

He had tried many times
To hang up his gun
But there was always
Another job needing done

His never having a home
Was the price he paid
A gun and badge his stock
Town tamer his trade
