WELCOME
TO
CHOCOLATE


CAKES & SWEET BREADS




CHOCOLATE LAYER CAKE


½ cup of margarine
1 ¼ cups of sugar
½ teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 eggs
2 ozs. Of baking chocolate
1 ¾ cups of cake flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 cup of buttermilk or sour milk

Grease two 9inch layer pans
Set the oven to 350 degrees
Blend together the margarine, sugar, salt, vanilla and eggs
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler; add it to the blended ingredients
Sift the flour with the soda and add alternately with the milk to the blended mixture
Pour the mixture into the greased layer pans
Bake for about 30 minutes
When baked, let stand in the pans for about 5 minutes, then remove from pans onto a cake rack
When cooled, frost with your preferred frosting
