CHOCOLATE


COOKIES & BROWNIES




Chocolate Refrigerator Cookies

½ cup of butter
1 ½ cups of sugar
1 egg
2 oz. of baking chocolate, melted
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 ½ cups of sifted flour
½ teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of baking powder
¼ cup of milk
½ cup of chopped nuts, pecans or hazelnuts

Beat the butter until light, gradually add the sugar and beat until creamy
Add the egg, cooled melted chocolate and vanilla, beat well
Sift the flour with the salt and baking powder
Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk,
beating well after each addition
Stir in the nuts
Shape the dough into a long roll about 2 inches in diameter
Wrap it with waxed paper and place it into the refrigerator
Chill for 1 hour or more
When it is ready to bake, turn the oven on to 400 degrees
Grease a cookie sheet with butter
Slice the dough 1/8 inch thick and place the slices onto the cookie sheet
Bake about 8 minutes or until delicately browned
